Summary

i'm pretty sure everyone knows what happens in this volume already， so i don't think it's too much of a spoiler， but just in case， i'm hiding the rest of the "review"， aka my very biased comments。（view spoiler）[i obviously already knew L was going to die。 i cried for MONTHS every single time （i'm not even kidding） someone mentioned L after i watched that episode of the anime。 so you can imagine that， even though i wasn't surprised， i wasn't exactly ready to go through it again。 i actually didn't i'm pretty sure everyone knows what happens in this volume already， so i don't think it's too much of a spoiler， but just in case， i'm hiding the rest of the "review"， aka my very biased comments。（view spoiler）[i obviously already knew L was going to die。 i cried for MONTHS every single time （i'm not even kidding） someone mentioned L after i watched that episode of the anime。 so you can imagine that， even though i wasn't surprised， i wasn't exactly ready to go through it again。 i actually didn't handle it very well this time either。 it hurt less because i already knew， but it still hurt like hell。 you might think it's a little too much， but L is someone that i feel very identified with （plus he's one of my favorite characters like， ever）。 i obviously don't think i'm as smart and capable as he is， but i see myself in way too many other aspects of his personality （and his life i guess？）。 i could explain， but it would take way too long and i don't have the time today。anyway！ my point is: i'm biased。 very biased。 after L died， death note， for me， was never as good as it was when he was alive。 so for me， about 66，66% （lol i literally calculated this i hate myself） of this volume was as amazing as the previous ones， and the rest completely sucked。 i mean， it wasn't bad， but i wasn't really into it。 this is also why it took so long for me to finish reading。honestly， i don't really know how to rate this because my heart says 0/10 even though i know it wasn't that bad。 however， i can't really be too rational about this and also， who cares？ if i like something， i'll give it a nice rating and， if i don't， i won't。 whether is "objectively" good or not is something entirely different， and something that doesn't really matter to me when it comes to choosing something to read。 anyway！ after getting carried away again， i wanna say my point is that my rating might often change because it's too hard for me to rate the character death that's hurt me the most。update: lmao i just realized i spent so long writing this that i forgot to actually give this a rating。 i am A Mess。update 2: i'm sorry for being so dramatic lmao i am Not Good with feelings。 （if you believe in astrology， you'll understand what i'm saying when i blame this on my cancer moon。） （hide spoiler）]also！ i like matsuda so much。 i don't think we talk about him enough。 。。。more

I has a sad。Things for both Light and L happen very quickly since the taskforce discovered the Death Note， and that this is how Kira kills his victims。And then the Shinigami， Rem， is placed into an untenable position （damn you Light for being so smart！） and forces her to give her own life for Misa。 Taking two other lives along the way。 I won't spoil who。 But it is devastating。I remember watching the anime and thinking "everything will be okay in a minute，" and then it wasn't。 It happened sooner I has a sad。Things for both Light and L happen very quickly since the taskforce discovered the Death Note， and that this is how Kira kills his victims。And then the Shinigami， Rem， is placed into an untenable position （damn you Light for being so smart！） and forces her to give her own life for Misa。 Taking two other lives along the way。 I won't spoil who。 But it is devastating。I remember watching the anime and thinking "everything will be okay in a minute，" and then it wasn't。 It happened sooner in the story than I initially remembered。 And it literally changed everything。The reason why I rated this book less than the ones before it， is because of the time jump。 Despite Light being a genius and taking over the investigation， it has been 4 years and the task force are no closer to catching Kira。 You would think they would kick Light out， but they still treat him like the smartest person in the room even though he has made absolutely no headway in all that time。 While he and Misa continue to play Kira， no one else steps in？Otherwise， this was the continuation of a great story that really shows no one is safe， the bad guy can definitely win， and you never know what is going to happen next。 。。。more
